Biography
ROBERT HANNA is an Emmy Award–winning cinematographer of documentaries and commercials. His documentary work includes the series Carrier, shot aboard the Navy aircraft carrier Nimitz, which earned him an Emmy; and Circus, a visually stunning behind-the-scenes look at the Big Apple Circus. He has filmed throughout the world on a wide variety of subjects, from biographies (Ansel Adams, Robert Frank, E. O. Wilson, Kehinde Wiley), to social issues (Half the Sky and A Path Appears, based on NY Times journalist Nick Kristoff’s study of women helping women around the world), to crime (DEA pursuits in South America and Europe, investigations into the Mafia) and historical films (the history of cancer, based on the bestselling book The Emperor of All Maladies). His commercial work includes spots for Google, YouTube, and Knorr, shot in Asia, Europe, and Scandinavia.
